📘 #3 Character Creation & Development
Before you step into the RP world, you need a well-thought-out character. Your character is your identity in the server - treat it like you're writing the main character of a story. This guide will help you create a unique, believable, and fun-to-play character.
🧍 Step 1: Decide the Basics- Full Name: Use a realistic name. Avoid joke names like "Mike Hunt" or "John Wick."
- Age: Make sure it fits the setting. A 17-year-old can't be a police officer.
- Gender: Optional, but helps with identity consistency.
- Ethnicity, Background: You can add a cultural or social background to give depth.
Example: Jaden Brooks, 28, Male, Grew up in Los Santos in a low-income neighborhood, looking to leave his past behind.
📜 Step 2: Build a BackstoryAsk yourself:
- Where is your character from?
- What was their childhood like?
- Did they face any major life events?
- Why did they come to the city?
- Do they have a goal? Revenge, money, peace, redemption?
Your backstory doesn't need to be a novel, but it should explain your character's personality, behavior, and choices.
🎭 Step 3: Define Personality & Traits- Personality Traits: Friendly, aggressive, cautious, arrogant, street-smart, etc.
- Habits & Quirks: Smokes when nervous, avoids eye contact, always polite, etc.
- Beliefs: Religious? Anti-authority? Believes in justice? Up to you.
Your character is not perfect. Flaws make them realistic and interesting.
💼 Step 4: Choose a Role or JobYour character should have a job or purpose. Here are some ideas:
- Law-abiding: Mechanic, Police Officer, Taxi Driver, Doctor, Business Owner
- Civilian: Bartender, Store Clerk, Photographer, Real Estate Agent
- Criminal: Gang Member, Drug Dealer, Smuggler, Hacker
The job you choose can evolve. Characters can change careers, turn from legal to criminal, or vice versa based on IC development.
📌 Tips for Character Consistency:- Stick to your character's personality, even when it's difficult.
- Avoid mixing your real-life emotions into RP.
- Don't change character goals every week - let your story evolve naturally.
- Remember: If your character dies in a CK (Character Kill), that life is gone permanently.
